Nextgen console starting with Xbox 360 . It was released on November 22, 2005 and the console was second console from Microsoft. One year after Xbox 360 released two competitors coming right away. Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. The XBOX 360 is a mash up from Microsoft, IBM, ATI, and other companies. It is said to be part of Microsoft’s strategy to compete actively in the gaming market. This set up comes with a nice, custom gaming console that is sure to make playing all the games easy and fun. It also has a remote control and head set . There is a lot of hard disc space and a Microsoft operating system, so that and the many, many excellent games for the XBOX systems make it the top choice. Many accessories are available for the console including HD DVD Player which was later discontinued after Blu-ray Disc won the format war.

Playstation 3 is the third home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. A major feature, that sets it apart from its predecessors, is its unified online gaming service, the PlayStation Network. Other main features of the console include its huge multimedia capabilities, connectivity with the playstation portable and its use of a next generation optical media, blu-ray disc, as its primary storage medium. There are four PlayStation 3 hardware models that are commonly referred to by the size of their included hard disk drive: "20", "40", "60", and "80" GB models. All retail packages include one or two Sixaxis controllers and later DualShock 3 controller. Playstation 3 was released November 11, 2006.

Finally Nintendo Wii, is the fifth home video game console released by Nintendo. Nintendo Wii was released on November 19, 2006, only 8 days after Playstation 3. The console was unique unlike the others, Nintendo Wii focus with the gameplay not graphic system.  The primary controller for the console is Wii remote. The device bundled with the Wii retail package is the Nunchuk unit, which features an accelerometer and a traditional analog stick with two trigger buttons. One of the interesting, new developments with the Nintendo Wii system is the Mii Channel. The Mii system allows you to create 3-D avatars on your Wii system. Nintendo is launching an online Mii Channel that will allow users to share these avatars and vote on them. Wii users love the ability to create avatar models of themselves, their friends, and families to take part in traditional video game roles. The increase in video games allowing users to manifest as their own Mii is also sure to increase. As users can save their Mii on their Wii system and use the same avatar to play different games, it is also hoped that this system will advance to allow the avatars to enter into other online virtual worlds.
